ABOUT US
The history of the Green Knights MMC
The Green Knights MMC was formed in late 1999 and was the idea of Adam Buehler with the assistance of base MSF instructor Jeff Richards to organise military motorcyclists for activities and to bring awareness and to share the joy of riding.
Green Knights Ireland MMC
Originally the Defence Forces Motorcycle Association (DFMA) it was renamed Green Knights Ireland Military Motorcycle Association (GKIMMA) in 2009 and we introduced the MMA backpatch to the Cuts in 2011. The club then voted to follow International Portocols & Bye Laws and moved to establish The Green Knights Ireland MMC in 2018.
What’s the meaning of the back patch / colours?
The horse represents the horsepower of our rides. The knight represents the old code, how our members are expected to act. The lightning bolt represents the striking power of the Air Forces (because that is where the club started). The knight’s shield represents the defence of our country.
What are the requirements to become a Knight (full patched member)?
First of all, you become a 'hangaround' ride with us, meet up and get to know us and we’ll get to know you. If you want to take the next step and we are happy to accept you, you are sponsored by a full member as a 'prospect' . To be eligible for full membership you must have a motorcycle, be either active duty military, reserve or military retiree (veteran).
Once you complete the mandatory twelve months as a prospect and other requirements that will be outlined by your sponsor, you are put forward to the committee for full patch membership.
Please let us know if you have any questions about the requirements.
